Soccer Announces Staff Additions
FAYETTEVILLE – Head coach Colby Hale has announced the addition of Sandy Davison to serve as the program’s third paid assistant coach, and Hank Skolnick to serve as director of operations.
Davison, no stranger to the college game, will make her eighth coaching stop at Arkansas. Previous stops include Florida (2021), Arizona (2019-2021), Indiana (2018-2019), and Washington State (2014-2018), where she coached with the Hogs’ associate head coach Jon Harvey for four seasons.
During her stay in Pullman, the Cougars advanced to three NCAA Tournaments, including advancing to the Sweet 16 in 2017. Two recent NWSL draftees – Morgan Weaver (Portland Thorns – 2019) and Makamae Gomera-Stevens (Houston Dash – 2021) – were recruited and coached by Davison in Pullman.
“Not only is Sandy one of the most recognized coaches in women’s college soccer, she is the perfect fit for us,” Hale said. We couldn’t be more excited to keep her in Fayetteville and I know she will make an immediate and lasting impact on our program.”
Davison holds a United States Soccer Federation “A” Coaching License. She attended Sacramento State University from 1984-85 after spending two years at Pfieffer College in Meisenheimer, N.C., where she played basketball and club soccer before injuries ended her competitive career. She earned her bachelor’s degree summa cum laude in cognitive science from Ashford University.
Skolnick comes to Fayetteville after serving as the director of video and scouting for Arkansas State men’s basketball in Jonesboro. His previous experience includes two seasons as a graduate assistant basketball coach at Arkansas State, one year as a marketing intern at Oklahoma, where he also served as a men’s basketball manager for three seasons under head coach Lon Kruger.
“In our director of operations search, we wanted someone who had done operations at a high level and had a work ethic that would match our programs,” Hale said. “Winning is a priority for us and Hank is a winner.”
