South Central Region honors for Sanu Jallow-Lockhart, Chris Johnson

FAYETTEVILLE – USTFCCCA South Central Region honors were awarded to Sanu Jallow-Lockhart as Women’s Track Athlete of the Year and Razorback women’s head coach Chris Johnson as Women’s Coach of the Year.

Jallow-Lockhart completed her senior season in dynamic fashion, breaking the collegiate 800m record (1:57.73) with a 1:56.85 NCAA victory.

Then she supplied an encore with a 49.01 anchor leg split on the winning 4 x 400m relay as Arkansas closed out the NCAA Championships with a 3:18.88 win that bettered the field by two seconds with the No. 2 time in collegiate history.

During the SEC Championships, Jallow-Lockhart accomplished her first 800m title after five runner-up efforts and broke the SEC meet record in the process.

Since Johnson became the Razorbacks women’s head coach in 2024, which included a sweep of the NCAA Indoor and NCAA Outdoor team titles, this marks the third time he has been named South Central Region Women’s Coach of the Year.

Previously, as an assistant coach, Johnson totaled 15 regional Assistant Coach of the Year honors, nine times with the Razorbacks.

Arkansas entered the NCAA Championships ranked No. 7 nationally with nine entries in the field. From the semifinal rounds the Razorbacks were the lone school to advance a pair of finalists in the 400m, 800m, and 400m hurdles.

Scoring 38 points in the meet had Arkansas placing third overall in team scoring behind SEC foes Georgia (50) and Florida (43) while ahead of host Oregon (36) and USC (32).

Joining Jallow-Lockhart in the 800m final was Analisse Batista, who registered a career best 1:58.41 for fifth place in the race and No. 8 performer on the all-time collegiate list.

In the 400m, the Razorback duo of Kaylyn Brown and Sanaria Butler, who each had sub 50-second times during the season, finished fourth and sixth for eight team points.

Saira Prince improved her No. 3 position on the UA all-time list in the 400m hurdles with a fourth career best this season, posting a 54.36 for third place.
