Three members of the Razorback track and field team – Devin Clark, Katie Izzo and Taylor Werner – have been selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Friday.

The trio were key members of Arkansas’ cross country team in the fall when the Razorbacks claimed the program’s first national championship, completing a sweep of three NCAA team titles in 2019.

Clark, a senior from Spring Branch, Texas, posted a 4.0 GPA in Recreation and Sports Management graduate program. She earned a bronze medal in the SEC Indoor 5,000m and established a career best of 9:17.27 in the 3,000m.

During the cross country season, Clark finished fifth in the SEC, fourth in the NCAA South Central Region and then earned an All-America honor by placing 21st in the NCAA Championships.

Izzo, a graduate transfer from Cal Poly who is from Seal Beach, California, has a 4.0 GPA in Recreation and Sports Management graduate program. Named the 2020 SEC Indoor Runner of the Year, Izzo swept the 3,000m and 5,000m titles, which included a meet record in the 5k and the second-fastest winning time in the 3k.

Earlier in the indoor season Izzo broke the Arkansas school record in the 5,000m with a time of 15:13.09, which ranks second on the all-time collegiate list. She also established career best times in the mile (4:35.03) and 3,000m (8:55.67).

Izzo led the Arkansas cross country squad in the NCAA Championships, placing third to collect an All-America honor. She won the SEC cross country title and finished second in the NCAA South Central Region.

Werner, a senior from Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, with a 3.97 GPA in Kinesiology: Exercise Science, collected the SEC Cross Country Runner of the Year accolade as well as SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in cross country and outdoor track and field this season.

In cross country, Werner earned an All-America honor placing fourth in the NCAA Championships after winning the NCAA South Central Region, leading a Razorback 1-5 sweep for a perfect score of 15 points, and finished runner-up to Izzo in the SEC Championships.
