Top-Ranked Arkansas Headed to Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The top-ranked Arkansas women’s cross country team heads north to the 11th-annual Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational with competition set for Saturday afternoon.
For the first time in program history, the Arkansas women’s cross country team is ranked No. 1 after receiving four first-place votes in the Week 4 Coaches Poll. The Razorbacks are the first program from the SEC to be ranked No. 1 since at least 1995 – which is as far as the USTFCCCA data goes back – and the 16th team overall in that span.
Arkansas surged to the No. 1 ranking thanks to a dominating win a few weeks ago at the Chile Pepper Festival. The Razorbacks put four runners in the top-5 as Taylor Werner led the charge with a course record of 15:54.40. Arkansas also remains the top-ranked team in the South Central Region, a position they’ve held the entire season.
In just ten years, the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational Presented by Under Armour has established itself as one of the nation’s premier collegiate meets. The 11th-annual event is set for Friday, Oct. 18, 2019.
All races will be held on the beautiful Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course, which opened in 2009 and is located adjacent to University Ridge Golf Course in Madison.
The meet will be streamed live by FloTrack, in addition, live results will be available on PrimeTime Timing.

- Spectators enjoy outstanding elevated views of the entire course from a berm situated between the starting area and finishing chute. Numerous pedestrian trails and cutouts make it easy for spectators following the races to move freely throughout the course.
The course opened in the fall of 2009 with the inaugural Wisconsin Adidas Invitational. Now in its 11h year, the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational is viewed as one of the premier cross country events in the country.
In addition, Wisconsin hosted the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championship, the 2010 Big Ten Championship, five NCAA Great Lakes Regionals. UW will also host the 2019 NCAA Great Lakes Regional.
