Trainor named to CoSIDA Board

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas Senior Associate Athletics Director for Public Relations Kevin Trainor was recently named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Board of Directors. The CoSIDA Board of Directors serves more than 3,100 strategic communications professionals working at all divisions of intercollegiate athletics.

CoSIDA approved a new set of officers and Board representatives to serve the professional athletic communications association for the 2019-20 academic year and beyond during its annual business meeting on June 11th during the 2019 CoSIDA Convention. The slate of 2019-20 candidates were nominated by the membership during the spring semester and were selected by the CoSIDA Nominating Committee, comprised of the organization’s past presidents and out-going Board of Directors.

Trainor will serve as an At-Large representative on the board for a three-year term. He has been appointed as the board liaison to the CoSIDA Advocacy committee. Trainor was one of four newly elected members to the Board. In addition to the election of the new board members, Southeastern Conference Associate Commissioner for Communications Herb Vincent has assumed the role of CoSIDA President for 2019-20.

Entering his 25th year full-time with the University of Arkansas, Trainor is the chief public relations officer for Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek. Trainor coordinates the department’s executive and crisis management communications and is a department liaison with the Razorback Foundation, University Relations, the National Football Foundation, the Arkansas Sports and Southwest Conference Halls of Fame. He is also entering his 10th year as the sports administrator for Razorback Baseball.

Trainor was a nearly 20-year media relations veteran at his alma mater before assuming his current role. Trainor has been selected to serve at some of the most prestigious sporting events in the country, including serving as head media relations liaison for one of the competing teams in the first five College Football Playoff National Championship games. For eight years, Trainor has been the press conference moderator for SEC Football Media Days. He has also moderated at multiple SEC Football Championship Games and the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament. Trainor has been a member of the media relations team for more than 22 Cotton Bowls and has worked numerous Master’s Tournaments for CBS Sports.

Trainor has both an undergraduate and Master’s degree in journalism from the University of Arkansas.
