Trio of Hogs Head North to Cyclone Invitational

Three members of the Arkansas women’s tennis team are headed to Ames, Iowa this weekend for the Cyclone Invitational, hosted by Iowa State.

The tournament, slated for Oct. 3-5, will feature competitors from Arkansas, Iowa State, Kansas State, Iowa, and Minnesota. Players will be put into teams of two and will have one match per day with starts between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. each morning of the event.

The teams will play in round robin format starting with an 8-game doubles set (tiebreaker at 7 all), followed by two singles matches that will be best-of-3 with a full third set. The team who wins at least two of the three matches (doubles, singles, singles) wins the overall match.

Arkansas’, Arina Babenko and Alexandra Panagiotidou will open the tournament on Friday, facing off against Jeselle Ante and Sofia Pinto (Minnesota) in doubles. For the singles portion of the match, Babenko will take on Ante and Panagiotidou will face Pinto.

Later that afternoon, Razorback Glennah Lanford will team up with Kira Smith from Iowa State to face Addison Renfro and Mallory Renfro from Kansas State. Langford will then meet Renfro for her singles match-up.
