Twilight final meet for No. 9 Razorbacks prior to SEC Outdoor

FAYETTEVILLE – The No. 9 Razorbacks host the Arkansas Twilight on Friday, May 8, at John McDonnell Field. It’s the final meet of the regular season with the SEC Championships being held next week at Auburn.

A live stream, starting at 5 p.m. CT, is available through SEC Network + at this link, while live results are available through flashresults.com at this link.

Athletes from a field of 22 teams are scheduled to compete in the meet, which includes Central Arkansas, Crowder, East Texas A&M, Harding, Hendrix, John Brown, Kansas City, Missouri Southern, Missouri S&T, Northwest Arkansas, Northwest Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma Baptist, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, Ouachita Baptist, Pittsburg State, Stephen F. Austin, Tulsa, and UTEP.

“There’s nothing pressing that we need to get done prior to the SEC Championships,” noted Arkansas women’s head coach Chris Johnson. “This meet provides us another opportunity to compete, which is always a positive. We still need to get a time in the 4 x 100m relay, which is important to us.

“We’ll do some fine tuning. Ainsley Erzen is running the 800m and we’re looking for a regional qualifying mark for her. She missed the first couple of weeks to start the outdoor season, so we’re trying to catch her up to speed and get her ready for the conference meet.”

In the 800m, Arkansas has three athletes with times that rank among the top 48 in the NCAA West with Sanu Jallow-Lockhart (1:59.70), Analisse Batista (2:03.88), and Makenna Herbst (2:04.00).

Erzen posted a season best of 2:06.72 at the LSU Invitational. Currently, the 48th best time in the NCAA West is 2:05.57. Erzen’s outdoor best in the event is 2:05.19 from the 2025 season.

Arkansas alums competing in the Twilight include Taliyah Brooks (200m, 100m hurdles), Rosey Effiong (200m, 400m), Shafiqua Maloney (400m), Logan Jolly (1,500m), Nickisha Pryce (200m), Nia Robinson (100m), Britton Wilson (200m, 400m), and Sydney Vaught (1,500m).

Arkansas seniors will be recognized starting at 4:10 p.m. prior to running events beginning at 5 p.m.

“To have seniors on your team is pretty impressive in this era of the transfer portal,” stated Johnson. “We have some four-year seniors who have been here the whole time. I think it’s impressive.

“If they’re finishing their eligibility or they’re graduating, it’s a milestone for them. We want to help celebrate them. We’re proud of them and now they become alumni. That’s the end game. They go out and compete, get an education, and complete those ties to the University.”
