National Indoor Coach of the Year accolade for Doug Case

FAYETTEVILLE – First year Arkansas men’s head coach Doug Case was named USTFCCCA National Indoor Men’s Coach of the Year after the Razorbacks swept SEC and NCAA Indoor team titles this indoor season.

Case achieved the indoor title sweep in his first year as head coach after 17 years as an assistant with the Razorbacks. This marked the 28th SEC Indoor title for Arkansas along with the 22nd NCAA Indoor title and 43rd overall NCAA Championship for the men’s program.

Following a flu bug among members of the team in the early stages of the indoor season, the Razorbacks started producing numerous marks that ranked among the top16 nationally to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships at the Tyson Invitational in mid-February.

Arkansas became the No. 1 team after that weekend and held that status through the remainder of the indoor campaign. The Razorbacks generated a national-leading total of 18 entries in 11 events for the NCAA Indoor meet.

Scoring in all 11 events at the national championship meet hosted by Arkansas at the Randal Tyson Track Center, the Razorbacks totaled 73.5 points for the team title as they bettered runner-up Oregon by 33.5 points. It marked the sixth NCAA Indoor men’s title for Arkansas when hosting the event.

When the Razorback men last won a NCAA Indoor title while hosting the meet in 2013, under men’s head coach Chris Bucknam, Arkansas scored 74 points and defeated Florida by 15 points.

The 33.5 winning margin for the 2026 national championship was the largest margin since 1994 when a juggernaut Razorback squad coached by John McDonnell totaled a record 94 points and won by 54 points over Tennessee.

Among the top 10 winning margins in NCAA Indoor history, which dates back to 1965, Arkansas has produced seven with UTEP claiming the other three.

The Razorbacks produced eight medals – 1 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze – and 19 first-team All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships. During the SEC Indoor, Arkansas totaled 10 medals – 4 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze.

The gold medal at NCAA Indoor came in the 800m as Tyrice Taylor registered the first victory in the event for the Razorbacks and was complimented by a runner-up finish from his roommate, Rivaldo Marshall, for 18 team points.
