Vrba Wins Two, Continues Hot Start to Fall

TULSA, Okla. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team has one remaining player competing in the ITA All-American Championships in Sophomore Jakub Vrba. His two wins on Friday marked his sixth and seventh victories of the fall season so far through only three tournaments.

Vrba’s earned his first triumph of the day against No. 30 Alexander Bernard, winning 6-3, 3-1, after Bernard retired in the second set due to injury. His second victory came over Eli Stephenson of Kentucky in a highly contested match that ended 7-6 (3), 6-7 (7), 6-4. Vrba’s play today earned him his fourth and fifth wins of the ITA All-American Championships, including three upsets against ranked opponents.

Vrba moves on to play No. 36 Emon van Loben Sels (UCLA) Saturday at 11:30 a.m. CT.
