Ware Scores 24 to Lead Hogs Back to Win Column

FAYETTEVILLE –  Arkansas women’s basketball (8-3), led by freshman Harmonie Ware’s career-high 24 points, snapped its two-game losing streak and defeated Jackson State (2-6), 77-46.

Ware went 9-9 from the field, 4-4 from beyond the arc, and scored the most points without a miss in program history.

First Quarter – 16-2

  • Arkansas won the tip but missed its first shot of the game.
  • Wyvette Mayberry drove through the paint for the first points of the game.
  • The Razorback defense was active early and forced eight straight misses and a five-second violation on the Tigers.
  • Jackson State didn’t score until the 5:37 mark.
  • Arkansas went on an 8-0 run and the Tigers called a timeout after Mayberry hit her first three of the game to put the Hogs ahead 14-2.
  • Jackson State was 1-19 from the field in the first quarter.

Second Quarter – 33-16

  • Arkansas started the quarter on a 2:44 scoring drought.
  • The Hogs led 20-8 at the media timeout.
  • Jenna Lawrence hit three three-pointers in the second quarter.
  • Jackson State improved its field goal percentage to 31.6% in the second quarter.
  • The Tigers did not attempt a free throw in the first half.

Third Quarter – 53-33

  • Arkansas started the half on an 8-0 run. Jackson State was scoreless for the first 2:52.
  • Ware entered double figures at the 6:31 mark for the second straight game and the fifth time in her rookie season.
  • The Hogs led by 20 (46-26) at the media timeout.
  • Arkansas’ lead stayed at 20 at the end of the third quarter
  • Freshman Bonnie Deas led the way with seven points in the third

Fourth Quarter – 77-46

  • Deas entered double figures with a layup at the 9:11 mark. She was fouled and converted at the line for the three-point play.
  • Ware stayed perfect from the field (6-6) with a three at the 8:42 mark.
  • Arkansas outscored Jackson State, 24-13, in the fourth for its highest scoring quarter of the day.

Game Notes

  • Jackson State’s two points in the first quarter were the fewest by an opponent since 2020. The Tigers’ 46 points were the fewest by an Araknsas opponent this season.
  • Jackson State finished just 23% (17-74 from the field, the lowest field goal percentage by an opponent since 2022.
  • Harmonie Ware went a perfect 9-9 from the field, the first Razorback since 2007 to shoot 100% with at least nine attempts.
  • Ware also scored the most points by a Razorback without missing in program history.
  • Deas finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double and sixth double-digit rebounding game this season.

The Hogs will travel to Missouri State on Saturday, Dec. 13. The Bears faced Kansas on Sunday but fell 73-70 in overtime.
