WBB Preview: Arkansas vs. Louisiana Tech

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas women’s basketball will open the season against Louisiana Tech on Tuesday, November 4, inside Bud Walton Arena.

Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on SEC Network+ with Brett Dolan (play-by-play) and Blair Lansden (analyst) on the call.

The opener is also Kelsi Musick’s first official game as Arkansas’ head coach. Last Thursday, the Hogs took down UA-Fort Smith, 100-42, in a preseason exhibition.

The 2025-26 season marks the 50th season of Arkansas women’s basketball. The program was founded in 1976 and played its first game on November 19 against North Arkansas Community College. It’s first win came against John Brown on December 1, 1976.

SERIES HISTORY

Arkansas and Louisiana Tech will meet for the sixth time overall and the fourth time in Fayetteville on Tuesday night. Before the 2023 WNIT matchup in Fayetteville, the teams had not met since 1983. The Razorbacks won the last meeting, 100-60, on Dec. 7, 2023. The Lady Techsters own a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series.

ON THE LADY TECHSTERS (via Louisiana Tech)

Head coach Brooke Stoehr enters her 10th year at the helm of the Lady Techsters, the longest tenured active head coach at Louisiana Tech. With only four letterwinners returning and nine newcomers, she was able to general an 18-win campaign, capped off with a narrow defeat in the Great 8 of the WNIT. This year the Lady Techsters return 71 percent of its scoring and 59 percent of its rebounding, as well as four starters from last year.

LAST TIME OUT

Arkansas hosted UA-Fort Smith on Oct. 30 for its only preseason exhibition and won the game 100-42. The Razorbacks won the boards, 61-34, with 21 on the offensive side. Arkansas forced 33 turnovers and took advantage, with 36 points off turnovers. Musick played all 11 available players and the bench accounted for 48% of Arkansas’ points. Maria Anais Rodriguez finished with 11 points and five rebounds, which would’ve set a career high for points and tied her career high in rebounds. Taleyah Jones led all scorers with 21 points and went 10-11 from the free-throw line. The senior also grabbed eight boards. Jenna Lawrence recorded the game’s only double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
