FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Betsy Wizard was named the SEC Freshman Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. It is the third SEC honor for Wizard this season. The England native, Wizard last earned this honor on November 8th and October 4th this season.

Wizard posted a personal-best time of 58.62 in the 100-meter butterfly at the England National Championships. The Northampton, England, product would go on to finish second in the 100-meter butterfly final. Wizard swam a 2:10.49 in the 200-meter butterfly final while also placing third in the event.

“We continued to have some strong swims at the US Open and English Nationals. Betsy’s goal was to focus on this meet and it’s great to see her perform best times in front of the national coaches at home,” said head coach Neil Harper. “The team will now focus on final exams and another phase of strong lifting and practice.”

Wizard and the Razorbacks are next in action against the Little Rock Trojans on January 14, at the Arkansas Natatorium in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
