Women’s Tennis Headed to Norman for NCAA Tournament

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.  – The University of Arkansas women’s tennis team is making its 21st trip to the NCAA Tournament in program history and the first time under newly named head coach Tucker Clary. The No. 44 Razorbacks are traveling to the University of Oklahoma where they will face Washington in the Round of 64 on Friday, May 5.

The Razorbacks finished the regular season 12-11 overall and 6-7 in conference play, including ranked wins over No. 12 Auburn, No. 28 Vanderbilt, No. 50 Alabama and No. 60 Ole Miss. Arkansas has two nationally-ranked singles players in No. 41 Carolina Gomez Alonso and No. 57 Kelly Keller. The duo of Indianna Spink and Morgan Cross are ranked No. 46 in the latest ITA rankings as well.

Arkansas will play its first regional in Norman, Okla., and its first against Washington. The Hogs and Huskies have faced off twice before, with the Razorbacks coming out on top both times.

First- and second-round competition takes place May 5-6 and features four teams playing in a single-elimination format. The winner of each site advances to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla, where the eight teams will compete for the national championship May 17-27.

The individual selections will be revealed tomorrow, May 2 on NCAA.com.
