Women’s Tennis On the Road at Kansas State and Kansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas women’s tennis team (4-1) is continuing their stretch of road matches this weekend, traveling to face Big 12 opponents Kansas State (2-0) on Saturday, Feb. 5 and Kansas (0-3) on Sunday, Feb. 6.

Arkansas is coming off the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Charlottesville, Va. The Razorbacks fell in a tight 4-2 decision to No. 15 Stanford and closed out the weekend with a 4-1 win over James Madison.

The doubles tandem on graduate student Tatum Rice and sophomore Morgan Cross continue their win streak in the dual season, improving to 13-3 overall. In the loss to No. 15 Stanford, Rice/Cross clinched the doubles point for the Razorbacks taking down No. 38 Blake/Ma, 6-3.

Kansas State is coming off a week break after defeating the South Dakota Coyotes, 6-1, and the Missouri State Bear, 7-0 at home. The Wildcats and Razorbacks last faced off in Fayetteville in 2021, where Arkansas swept 7-0.

Wildcats senior Karine-Marion Job is ranked No. 51 in the nation with a 2-0 record in singles matches this dual season, posting straight set wins at the No. 1 position. Job teams up with senior Maria Linares in doubles, clinching the point for the Wildcats in the win over South Dakota.

Kansas is looking to bounce back after starting the 0-3 with losses to Tulsa and to No. 22 Baylor and No. 23 Miami at the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Jayhawks competed against Arkansas last season in Fayetteville, falling 0-7.

The Jayhawks are led by No. 42 freshman Maria Titova who has not lost a singles match this dual season in the No. 2 position. Titova scored the lone Kansas point against Miami, defeating No. 104 Achong in straight sets. In doubles, Titova and Malika Nguonoue fell in a tight tiebreaker 7-6 (6-1) to Baylor’s No. 4 Krywoj/Herrero.  The duo is 1-2 this spring, with both their losses coming to ranked opponents at the No. 1 position.
