Women’s Tennis Open Home Season Against Memphis

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas women’s tennis team open up their home season at Billingsley Tennis Center this weekend after four straight road matches to begin the spring. The Razorbacks, who are 3-1 this dual season, will face the Memphis Tigers at 2 p.m. CT on Friday, February 10.

Arkansas is coming off of a two-week break after competing in the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Palo Alto, Calif. on Stanford’s campus. The Razorbacks fell in a tough 4-3 battle to Florida State but came back with a 4-0 win over Kansas State. No. 45 freshman Carolina Gomez-Alonso notched her first dual win over Florida State to force the doubles tiebreaker. Senior Kelly Keller made her first appearance in the ITA rankings this spring at No. 99 after posting a 4-0 record so far this dual season. In doubles, Lenka Stara and Grace O’Donnell clocked in at No. 57 after defeating Kansas State’s Ukita/Dekkers to help the Razorbacks secure the doubles point.

The Memphis Tigers hold a 1-6 record this dual season, with their one win coming over Columbia, 4-2. The Tigers faced Mississippi State last Sunday, falling 1-4, but taking the doubles point over the Bulldogs. Sophomore Emily Meyer leads the team with four singles wins, going 4-2 at the No. 4 position. In doubles, Meyer teams up with Aran Teixido Garcia to post a 3-2 record on court one.
