Women’s Tennis Open SEC Play at Home Against Missouri

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 58 Arkansas women’s tennis team (7-3) hosts Missouri (5-8) on Saturday, March 5 to open up Southeastern Conference play at home.

The Razorbacks concluded their non-conference schedule at SMU, upsetting the No. 36 ranked Mustangs on Sunday, Feb. 27. In doubles, Arkansas claimed an early lead winning the doubles point with wins of courts two and three. The No. 46 ranked doubles duo of Tatum Rice and Morgan Cross won their sixth match in the No. 1 position and improved to 15-4 overall.

Sophomore Morgan Cross’ clinching win for the Razorbacks in straight-set tiebreakers 7-5, 7-5 earned her SEC Player of the Week (March 2). Cross’ honor marks the first time since 2017 a Razorback has won the award.

Missouri has had a busy slate, playing five matches in five days before making the trip to Fayetteville. The Tigers are coming off a double-header, falling to Florida Atlantic and North Florida at home. Senior Bronte Murgett leads the Tigers on court one, winning her last five matches. The Tigers have dropped the doubles point in three of their last four matches.

The Razorbacks lead the series against the Tigers, 14-3. The two teams last faced off in Columbia last season where Arkansas came out on top, 4-2.
