Workshop Hones Job Interview Skills
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Teaching second-year Razorback student-athletes how to “seal the deal” when it comes to job interviews was the main topic of discussion during a recent Interview Education workshop held at the Jerry & Gene Jones Family Student-Athlete Success Center.
Student-Athlete Development staff guided student-athletes on Feb. 6Â through an interactive workshop focused on the three stages of interviewing. In addition to basic interview skills, participants worked on utilizing their personal branding statement for 30-, 60- and 90-second personal introductions.
Student-athletes were also exposed to multiple styles of dress, including business, business casual and “after 5” attire, as well as common situational and behavioral-style questions that utilize the STAR method.
A mobile app game, Kahoot, was also used in competition to see which student-athlete could answer questions about proper interview techniques the fastest.
The second-year student-athletes in attendance left the workshop to prepare for upcoming scholarship and internship interviews.
