#9 Arkansas Finishes Runner-Up at Betsy Rawls Invitational
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 9 Arkansas women’s golf finished runner-up behind No. 7 Texas at the Betsy Rawls Invitational at the UT Golf Club (Par 72) in Austin. The Razorbacks’ season record improved to 94-12-1.
Juniors Maria José Marin (T4, +5) and Abbey Schutte (T10, +8) shot under par in the final round to earn top 10 finishes. José Marin, the top-ranked women’s collegiate golfer, has finished inside the top 10 in 10 straight events, dating back to last year’s NCAA Regional in Columbus, Ohio.
Freshman Sara Brentcheneff started the day as Arkansas’ leader in fourth place, but suffered an 8-over 80 in the final round to drop 13 spots to T18.
Senior Reagan Zibilski and sophomore Natalie Blonien, who competed as an individual, tied for 22nd at 17-over. Zibilski opened the event with a 10-over first round, but combined for 7-over over the remaining 36 holes.
Freshman Swetha Sathish rounded out the Hogs at 18-over for a top 30 finish at T28. All six Razorbacks finished inside the top 30.
The 16-team field battled cold temperatures and steady 15 mile per hour winds the entire tournament. The host Longhorns captured the win at 14-over and had three golfers finish inside the top 10, including winner Farah O’Keefe at 1-under, the only competitor in the entire field to finish under par.
