Abbey Schutte Named SEC Golfer of the Week
FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas junior golfer Abbey Schutte, fresh off a win at the Puerto Rico Classic, was named the SEC’s golfer of the week, the conference announced Wednesday.
In the opening round at Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, Schutte shot a career-low 65, the lowest round of the 101-player field all tournament. Schutte followed that up with a bogey-free 67 in the second round and propelled the Hogs to a one-shot lead headed into Monday’s final round.
With conditions worsening Monday morning, the Goodyear, Arizona native held steady with a 74 and helped Arkansas to win with a comfortable six-shot lead. The Razorbacks won their third tournament of the season and their third straight in Puerto Rico dating back to 2024.
Schutte has won two straight tournaments, starting with The Ally in October of 2025, her first career individual win. She is ranked No. 20 nationally and seventh in the SEC in this week’s NCAA DI Women’s National Collegiate Golf Rankings.
This is Schutte’s third weekly honor from the SEC.
No. 4 Arkansas will return to the course later this month at the Chevron Collegiate hosted by the University of Houston. The tournament will be played at the Golf Club of Houston from Feb. 24-25.
