Allison Cucci Named SEC Freshman of the Week

After a standout performance in the Gymbacks’ regular season finale, Allison Cucci has been named SEC Freshman of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

In Arkansas’ meet at No. 2 LSU on March 13, Allie made her sixth appearance in the all-around this season and won the title with a new career high, 39.525. The score is tied for third highest of any freshman in the country this season and second highest in the SEC.

The Rochester, NY native didn’t score lower than 9.850 on any event, with a pair of 9.850s on bars and beam, a 9.900 on floor and a 9.925 on vault, the latter a new career high. In addition to the all-around crown, Cucci also finished top three on bars.

Allison is currently ranked 17th in the SEC on vault with an NQS of 9.890, fourth among freshmen, and ranked eighth in the SEC all-around, first among freshmen.

It’s the first SEC weekly honor of her career and first Freshman of the Week honor for Arkansas since Lauren Williams on Jan. 30, 2023.

The Gymbacks begin their postseason journey this Saturday, March 21 at the SEC Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Arkansas has been seeded sixth and will compete in the first session of the day at the BOK Center at 2 p.m. All action will be broadcast live on SEC Network with live scoring provided by Virtius.
