Razorback Notes
Arkansas dropped all three games at the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic on Feb. 28-March 1 at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas … The Razorbacks opened with a 6-3 loss to No. 22 Oklahoma on Friday, holding a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning before allowing the tying run in the sixth and three in the seventh … Arkansas couldn’t overcome a slow start against Texas on Saturday, giving up eight runs over the first two innings … The Razorbacks scored in three-straight frames to cut the deficit to 8-5 heading into the ninth inning, then scored two on a double off the yellow stripe of the right field wall before ultimately falling, 8-7 … Arkansas allowed a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to Baylor, before scoring two in the eighth inning to pull within one run, but couldn’t get anything going in the ninth to drop the finale, 3-2 … The Hogs equaled hit totals (10) against both Oklahoma and Texas, and out-hit Baylor, 8-6 … Arkansas left eight men on base in each of the first two games, and nine in the last contest against Baylor, stranding at least one runner in each of the first eight innings against the Bears … The Razorbacks hit .257 as a unit this weekend, dropping the season clip to .296 … Arkansas allowed 17 runs total, with only 10 earned, for a 3.60 team ERA in Houston … The Hog pitching staff struck out 27 batters and only gave up five walks of the course of three games … Heston Kjerstad and Christian Franklin have a hit in all 10 games this season … Arkansas faces Illinois State (3-7) on Tuesday, March 3, at 3 p.m. at Baum-Walker Stadium, before hosting South Alabama (7-6) in a three-game set on March 6-8 in Fayetteville.
