Razorback Notes
Arkansas got back in the win column with a series victory over South Alabama on March 6-8 … Before facing the Jags, the Razorbacks dropped their first midweek contest of the year on an 8-7 decision against Illinois State on March 3 … Arkansas racked up a then-season high hit total with 15, but stranded 12 on base, unable to overcome an 8-5 deficit … The Hogs dropped a 13-6 opener against South Alabama, before surging to a 15-2 win on Saturday behind a new season-best 15 runs on 18 hits … Both teams scored in the first and third innings on Sunday to remain tied until the ninth inning, when Heston Kjerstad uncorked a two-run home run to walk off the Jaguars and clinch the series win … It was the first walk-off homer for the Razorbacks since James McCann vs. LSU on April 9, 2011 … It was the first walk-off win for Arkansas this year and second come-from-behind victory this week … Arkansas did not score first in any of the four games this week … The Razorbacks hit .333 as a team over the four games, totaling 49 hits, 13 for extra bases, with 33 runs … Arkansas had a 5.75 ERA this week with 23 earned runs over 36 innings, striking out 45 … Five starters hit above the team average this week, with Christian Franklin leading the way with 10 hits and a .588 clip … Heston Kjerstad has a hit in all 14 games this season, while Franklin has a hit in all but one contest … Arkansas faces Grand Canyon (9-7) in a double midweek at home on Tuesday-Wednesday, March 10-11, before beginning SEC play at Mississippi State (10-4) on March 13-15 in Starkville.
