Arkansas Gymnastics Hosts No. 2 Florida Friday
For the second time this season, the No. 2 team in the country is coming to town as the No. 15 Gymbacks play host to the No. 2 Florida Gators on Friday night at Bud Walton Arena.
Arkansas’ series with Florida is its second-longest in program history with 56 total meetings dating back to 2003, only the Gymbacks’ series with the Crimson Tide is longer at 57 meetings. Of those contests, the Gymbacks have a 3-53 record, their last win over the Gators came in 2011.
The Gymbacks’ three victories against the Gators all came over just three seasons, and Arkansas defeated the Florida twice in 2011. Both times Florida was ranked No. 1, and one of two was in Fayetteville.
Arkansas will look to bounce back Friday after posting a 195.975 score and loss at No. 1 Oklahoma last week, while Florida is coming off a pair of wins in a tri-meet at West Virginia on Sunday. The Gymbacks are currently 3-5 overall, 1-2 in the SEC, and Florida is 6-1, 1-1 in conference competition.
The meet will serve as the team’s fourth annual Equality Night. Doors open at 4:30, team introductions are at 5:45 and first vault is set for 6:00. The action will be broadcast live on SEC Network with Kennedy Baker and Jason Ross Jr. on the call.
