Arkansas Records Seventh 197+ Score in Return to BWA

The No. 12 Gymbacks had a great return to their second home on Sunday as they posted their seventh score of 197+ in a loss to No. 1 Oklahoma, 198.350-197.275.

The day was highlighted by 9.925 vault scores for Leah Smith and Lauren Williams, which earned them both a share of the event title.

The Sooners outscored the Gymbacks on each event, but they held their own on floor and earned a 49.600, just .025 behind Oklahoma and matches the second-best floor score ever.

The meet was one of two in the regular season for Arkansas, and was attended by 9,771 fans, the third-highest attendance at Bud Walton and the third-highest for the program.

Vault

Weaver kicked things off with a 9.800 in the lead-off spot. Smith then had a huge Yurchenko full up third, capped with a stick, for a score of 9.925. Price posted a 9.825 in the fourth position, and Hailey Klein had a 9.875 on Arkansas’ first Yurchenko 1.5 of the day. Williams closed it out with another 1.5 and with just slight movement on the landing, scored 9.925 to seal a 49.350 event score for Arkansas.

Bars

Swaney got a 9.800 for Arkansas to start, and Jaime Pratt and Reese Drotar followed with matching 9.775s. Jensen Scalzo was up fourth and had a solid routine, complete with a stick, for a 9.875. Priscilla Park earned a 9.800 in the fifth spot, which was followed by a fall in the anchor position. Arkansas finished with a 49.025 on bars.

Beam

Kalyxta Gamiao led off with a 9.800 for Arkansas on beam. Maddie Jones got redemption after a fall in the first rotation with a solid routine that went 9.875, complete with stuck dismount. Swaney was up next and got another 9.875 midway through the lineup, also sealed with a stick. A balance check plagued Arkansas in its fourth spot, but Klein recovered nicely with a 9.850. Sirena closed the rotation with a bang and scored a big 9.900, which brought Arkansas’ beam total to 49.300.

Floor

Gamiao yet again shined in the lead-off position for Arkansas and had a great routine that went 9.850. Klein was up next and stuck both of her passes clean for a score of 9.900, a new career high. Jones registered another 9.900 for the Gymbacks midway through the lineup with a solid routine, and Smith kept the momentum going with a huge routine for a 9.925. Williams was excellent as always in the fifth spot and earned another 9.925. Price closed it out with a crowd-pleaser that earned a 10 from one judge and ultimately went 9.950. Arkansas had its second-best floor score of the season, 49.600.

Arkansas will stay at Bud Walton Arena for its final home meet of the season, a Senior Night dual against Nebraska on March 15. The meet is set for 6:45 p.m. and will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
