Arkansas to Face No. 10 Georgia Bulldogs on the Road

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas gymnastics team hits the road for the second time this season, heading east to Athens, Ga. for a Friday night match-up with the No. 10 Georgia Bulldogs. Friday night’s meet will air live on the SEC Network starting at 7:30 p.m. CT with Bridget Sloan and Courtney Lyle on the call.

Arkansas posted the third-highest team score in program history in its 197.425 – 197.250 loss to the No. 1 Florida Gators in Barnhill Arena last Friday (Jan. 22). To date, the showdown with the Gators is the only meet in the nation this season where both programs finished with team totals of 197 or better.

Freshman Jordan Olszewski hit a season-high 9.850 on the vault while Amanda Elswick led the Hogs with a 9.875 in the anchor spot. Redshirt-sophomore Bailey Lovett scored a season-best 9.925 on the floor for a share of the floor title with Florida’s Trinity Thomas as well.

Georgia (1-2) is coming off back-to-back road losses at Florida (Jan. 15) and LSU (Jan. 22) after opening the 2021 season with a 196.150-194.250 win over Missouri at home. Arkansas will be looking to repeat its 2020 performance against the Gymdogs, when the Razorbacks defeated Georgia in Fayetteville, 196.950-196.750. It was the Gymbacks highest team score of the season and second SEC win of the year.

The Gymbacks have won three of the last 10 dual meets between the two teams and will be looking for its first win in Athens in program history. Georgia lost All-American Sabrina Vega to graduation but returns Rachel Lukacks, who led the Gymdogs on the vault and secured seven event titles on the vault, floor and all-around last season.
