Ayora Ties for Third at Campeonato de España Amateur

ZARAGOZA, Spain. – Rising senior Miriam Ayora of the Arkansas women’s golf team finished the Campeonato de España Amateur V Memorial Emma Villacieros on a high note, as she shot a 69 on Sunday to finish the tournament tied for third. With a 4-under 284 (71-72-72-69), Ayora jumped six spots on the leaderboard on the final day of competition.

Ayora finished the tournament with 14 birdies and one eagle from the second round. With her 69 on Sunday, she delivered five of her birdies and just two bogeys. Her 3-under was tied for the best score on Sunday.

The Campeonato de España featured a field of 112 golfers with a cut to 73 following the first three rounds. Ayora was clear of the cut the whole way, as she was one of 10 golfers to finish play at under par. Ayora beat out the likes of Blanca Fernandez (Texas A&M), Paula Martin (Spain), Marina Escobar (Florida) and Carla Tejedo (LSU), among others.
