Baseball Draws Tennessee in SEC Tournament
HOOVER, Ala. – The 20th-ranked and No. 5 seed University of Arkansas baseball team is set to play No. 12 seed Tennessee Tuesday evening at approximately 8 p.m. in the opening round of the SEC Tournament at the Hoover Met.
The Razorbacks ended the regular season with a 33-20 record and 17-12 mark in SEC play to finish third in the SEC west and fifth place overall in the conference standings.
Arkansas did not lose an SEC series over the final eight weeks, posting a 16-7 record with seven series wins and a rain-shortened series split with Tennessee.
In search of its first SEC Tournament Championship in program history, The Razorbacks are making their seventh straight appearance in the SEC Tournament and 21st overall.
Arkansas has made three SEC Tournament Championship game appearances in program history, finishing runner up in 1998 to Auburn, in 1999 to Alabama and in 2007 to Vanderbilt.
The Razorbacks are 9-11 in SEC Tournament openers, including a 4-0 victory over Texas A&M last season. Arkansas is 1-0 against the Volunteers in the SEC Tournament, defeating Tennessee 4-1 during the 2004 championship.
The most tournament wins for Arkansas came in 1999 with four. The Razorbacks claimed three wins a year ago, falling in the semifinals to LSU. Dave Van Horn is 14-20 in 11 SEC Tournament appearances.
