Carmona and Singleton Earn SEC Weekly Honors
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas redshirt junior offensive lineman Fernando Carmona Jr. (Offensive Lineman of the Week) and redshirt freshman quarterback Malachi Singleton (Freshman of the Week) both earned SEC weekly honors due to their efforts in the Razorbacks’ 19-14 win over No. 4 Tennessee, the league announced Monday morning.
Carmona played a crucial role in protecting the quarterback and paving the way for 434 yards of total offense (297 passing, 137 rushing). The Razorbacks’ 297 passing yards and 137 rushing yards were the most by a Tennessee opponent since Nov. 18, 2023. The San Jose State transfer was part of an offensive line that limited Tennessee to a season-low two sacks during the contest and became the first team to top the century mark in rushing against the Vols this season.
After previously being named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week on Aug. 31, Carmona is the first Arkansas offensive lineman to win an SEC weekly award multiple times in a season since Ricky Stromberg in 2022.
Singleton scored the game-winning touchdown on an 11-yard rush with 1:17 remaining during the historic victory. His 11-yard touchdown rush capped a four-play, 59-yard drive that took just 2:03 of game time. Singleton, who entered the game when Arkansas starting quarterback Taylen Green got injured with 14 minutes left in the fourth quarter, completed two of his three passing attempts for 31 yards and rushed four times for 15 yards and a touchdown.
With the selection, Singleton is the first Razorback quarterback to earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors since Cole Kelley accomplished the feat following a 38-37 win at Ole Miss on Oct. 28, 2017.
Following a bye week, Arkansas will resume its SEC slate by hosting LSU on Saturday, Oct. 19. Kickoff for the contest with the Tigers is set for a night slot (5 p.m.-7 p.m.) but has yet to be finalized.
