Jerel Stewart was named the Razorbacks’ head cheerleading coach in the summer of 2023.

Stewart is a dynamic leader and accomplished cheerleading coach with an impressive track record of success in both collegiate and high school environments. With 15 years of cheerleading experience and a passion for fostering excellence both on and off the mat, Stewart has made an indelible commitment to the sport cheerleading.

Formerly at Miami (OH), Stewart’s six-year tenure as the head cheerleading coach witnessed the transformation of the Redhawks’ cheerleading program into a nationally ranked program. His unwavering dedication and visionary approach reinvigorated the program, earning him a reputation as a catalyst for success. 

Guided by an unwavering commitment to his athletes’ well-being and personal growth, Stewart creates a supportive and safe environment where student-athletes thrive. Beyond the confines of the gym, he is dedicated to helping them become not only exceptional athletes but also outstanding individuals, poised for success beyond graduation.

Stewart’s coaching journey spans across multiple levels, from high school to all-star teams and college squads, making him a versatile and adaptable coach.

Before his impactful tenure at Miami (OH), Stewart honed his coaching prowess during three transformative years as the head cheerleading coach at Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. There, he masterminded the expansion of the program, introducing coed teams and innovative training techniques. Under his guidance, the team achieved remarkable heights, including the distinction of state runner-up in 2015 and subsequent state champions in 2016.

Stewart’s journey came full circle when he returned to his alma mater, Cincinnati, where he had once been a varsity cheerleader for the Bearcats. Armed with a bachelor’s degree in communications from the same institution, his extensive understanding of the sport and his alma mater’s spirit shines through in his coaching philosophy.

A native of Westerville, Ohio, Stewart’s roots run deep, and he remains deeply connected to his family, including his mother and step-father. As the youngest of three brothers, he maintains close ties with his father and brothers, all of whom reside in the Atlanta, Ga., area.
