Final Fall Event This Week

Live Scoring
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas women’s golf team takes part in the Maryb S. Kauth Alamo Invitational in San Antonio, Texas, this week.

The final event of the fall takes place Sunday-Tuesday at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club with the Razorbacks returning as the defending champion. Senior Alana Uriell is the defending individual winner, picking up the first victory of her collegiate career last season.

The Razorback lineup remains the same with the addition of an individual this week. Top-ranked (Golfweek) player Maria Fassi headlines a solid group of players who have produced two team victories already this season. Uriell and junior Dylan Kim, Kaylee Benton and Cara Gorlei will also make the trip. Freshman Maria Hoyos will travel as an individual.

Arkansas is making its fifth appearance at the event and has posted top-3 finishes, including the win last year, each time. The Razorbacks are tied for the tournament record low round shooting a 274 on day two last year and hold the third-best score with a 275 in 2014.

Uriell’s 12-under 204 in 2016 tied for the lowest score and for the lowest score to par in the tournament’s history.

This week’s field has a more middle-of-the-country makeup with seven of the 14 programs checking in from the Lone Star state. Five more reside in Arkansas, Alabama, Kansas, Oklahoma and Tennessee while the final two, Denver and Maryland, have a longer trip.

The event is the final of four fall events for Arkansas. The Razorbacks blasted out of the gates with a 41-under par win at the Mason Rudolph Championship. Arkansas jumped to the top spot in the Golfweek.com rankings and backed it up with a victory at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate Presented by 3M. Fassi earned medalist honors at both events with Uriell and Kim posting top-4 finishes.

In recent action, Arkansas played to a fourth-place finish at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational.
