Golden Clash coming to Razorback Stadium
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium is set to host its first international soccer match when Liga MX rivals Club América and Club Tigres face off in the Golden Clash on March 28 as part of a men’s and women’s doubleheader.
This world-class soccer event will feature two matches: the clubs’ women’s teams will kick off at 2 p.m., followed by the men’s match at 5 p.m.
“We’re excited to bring an international spotlight to the University of Arkansas and all of Northwest Arkansas with two of the top club teams in the world in Club América and Club Tigres,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek said. “With our country being a part of hosting the World Cup this summer, we’re thrilled to put Razorback Stadium on a global stage.”
Both men’s teams have been among Liga MX’s leading clubs over the past 10 years, becoming the league’s most successful during that span – Club América and Club Tigres with four league titles each.
Club América is Mexico’s most successful and decorated club, with more titles than any other institution. Founded in 1916 and based in Mexico City, the club has won 16 Liga MX titles – the most in league history-. On the women´s side Club América has won two Liga MX Femenil titles. América plays its home matches at the iconic Estadio Banorte, which will host FIFA World Cup matches for the third time in its history this summer.
Tigres finished as runners-up in December’s Liga MX Apertura tournament. Based in San Nicolás de los Garza, the club was founded in 1960 and has won eight Liga MX titles in its history. On the women’s side, Tigres are the reigning Liga MX Femenil champions after capturing their seventh title in December – the most in league history – along with three Campeón de Campeonas trophies.
Club América and Club Tigres have developed a strong rivalry in Mexico over the past years in men´s and women´s teams and now will meet for the first time in the Golden Clash, an exciting doubleheader exclusively played in Razorback Stadium.

Arkansas season ticket holders across all sports and Razorback Foundation members will receive priority access beginning tomorrow, January 29 at noon. Tickets for the general public will go on sale Friday, January 30 at noon.
