Gymback Preview Set for Sunday
Fans can get their first look at the 2024 Arkansas gymnastics team this weekend as the team hosts their annual Gymback Preview on Sunday, Dec. 17.
Arkansas was recently ranked No. 15 in the WCGA preseason coaches poll, the fourth consecutive season ranked inside the top 15 to start and fourth under head coach Jordyn Wieber.
The Gymbacks closed out their 2023 slate at their 19th straight regional, where they finished with a new regional team score record of 197.275, and a new regional floor record of 49.500. The team just missed the regional final and came in at 17th in the country, maintaining the program’s 18-year streak in the top 20.
The Gymbacks hit multiple milestones in 2023 including new SEC Championships team (195.825), vault (49.425), and bars (49.175) records, a new overall program score record of 197.475, a new program vault record (49.525), and a new program beam record (49.525). Arkansas posted five scores above 197 for the second time in program history in the 2023 slate, the first in 2021, also under Wieber.
The Gymbacks have a star lineup of returners this year including all-SEC honorees Frankie Price, Cami Weaver, and Lauren Williams, who also qualified for nationals on vault as a freshman. Arkansas also added beam All-American Sirena Linton from Arizona as a graduate transfer, and their four freshmen – Chandler Buntin, Dakota Essenpries, Hailey Klein and Priscilla Park – provide a boost on all events.
The event is free and open to the public and set to begin at 2 p.m. CT at Barnhill Arena, with doors opening at 1 p.m. All standard clear bag policies are in effect for the Preview. Free parking is available in lots surrounding Barnhill including lots 44, 72, 73, 74, and 76.
The gymnastics team will again host a Toy Drive at this year’s intrasquad. Fans are fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to benefit children in the Northwest Arkansas area. Fans in attendance be the first to get their hands on the 2024 poster, as autographed versions will be given away at Barnhill.
Sunday’s Preview will not be live streamed, but some updates will be provided on social media throughout the day and all routines will be uploaded to YouTube later.
