
Gymbacks Fall to No. 1 Oklahoma on the Road
The No. 13 Gymbacks had their first-ever SEC match-up with the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners on Friday and suffered their second loss of the SEC slate, 197.825-195.975.
Freshman Joscelyn Roberson closed the meet with a 9.925 on beam, Arkansas’ highest score of the night, and tied for second in the event. The Gymbacks did go 49+ on three of four events, but just couldn’t overpower the home team, who scored 49.300+ on every apparatus.
Arkansas is now 3-5 on the season and 1-2 in conference competition.
Bars
Following an opening 9.700 from Swaney for Arkansas, Leah Smith went next and delivered a stuck double layout dismount for a 9.850. Kaity Ewald registered a 9.775 in the third spot, and Priscilla Park matched the score up fourth. Maddie Jones notched a 9.750 in the fifth spot before Arkansas suffered a fall in the anchor position. The Gymbacks finished bars with an event score of 48.450.
Vault
Weaver started out vault with a 9.775 for her Yurchenko full in the lead-off spot. Smith went next and stuck her full for a 9.850, continuing her hot start to the night. Ja’Leigh Lang added a 9.800 for her Yurchenko full to close out the team’s 9.950 start values on the night. Dakota Essenpries delivered a 9.825 for a clean Yurchenko 1.5 in the fourth spot. Following a 9.750 for Roberson up fifth, Frankie Price entered the lineup last minute and got a 9.800 to bring Arkansas’ vault total to 49.050.
Floor
After an uncharacteristic start to their best event, the Gymbacks got back on track with scores of 9.775 and 9.850 from Hailey Klein and Maddie Jones, respectively. Smith added a 9.750, and Roberson matched it in the fifth spot. Price came up to anchor and got a 9.875, which pushed Arkansas to a 49.000 even on floor.
Beam
Kalyxta Gamiao began the beam rotation with a 9.750, which Jones followed by a 9.700. Park had a clean routine midway through the lineup for the Gymbacks and earned a 9.800. Swaney went up next and went 9.775. Weaver delivered a solid set with a stuck landing in the fifth spot, which scored a 9.825 for Arkansas. Roberson finished out the day with a 9.925 on beam, the Gymbacks’ best score of the day. Arkansas concluded beam with a 49.075.

Arkansas continues conference competition with a home dual against No. 2 Florida on Friday, Feb. 7 at Bud Walton Arena. The meet is set for 5:45 p.m. and the action will be broadcast live on SEC Networl.
