Gymbacks Fall to Tigers on Senior Night

In the team’s last regular season meet, the No. 16 Gymbacks put up a good fight, but ultimately fell to the No. 7 Missouri Tigers 197.800-197.225.

Freshman Joscelyn Roberson scored a 39.525 all-around, matching her rookie all-around record that she set just a week prior. She didn’t score lower than 9.825 in any routine and also came away with a share of the floor title with a 9.925.

Redshirt junior Frankie Price tied Roberson for the floor gold and helped Arkansas put a 49.425 event score together on the event.

A total of 8,199 fans were in attendance on Friday, the seventh-best number in program history. That brings Arkansas’ total season attendance to 39,575 and the average attendance to 7,915, both new records.

Vault

Redshirt junior Cami Weaver led off the meet with a 9.750 on vault and the scores just kept building from there. Freshman Ja’Leigh Lang got a 9.825 and sophomore Dakota Essenpries earned a 9.850 midway through the lineup. Sophomore Hailey Klein delivered a clean Yurchenko 1.5 in the four spot that went 9.875 next. Roberson earned a 9.850 in fifth and Price anchored the rotation with a 9.800. Arkansas finished vault with an event score of 49.200.

Bars

Roberson started bars with a mark of 9.825, and junior Cally Swaney added a 9.800 next. Senior Kaity Ewald had a steady performance in third, complete with stuck dismount, and earned a 9.850. Following a fall in the fourth spot, senior Maddie Jones delivered her signature smooth work on bars for a 9.875, which was matched by grad transfer Mati Waligora in the sixth spot. The Gymbacks totaled 49.225 on bars.

Beam

All three of Arkansas’ opening beam routines went 9.850 or higher: A 9.900 from senior Kalyxta Gamiao, a 9.875 from Mati Waligora, and a 9.850 from sophomore Priscilla Park. Swaney got a 9.800 in the four spot, and Klein followed with a 9.825. Roberson was rock solid as usual in the anchor position and earned a big 9.925, Arkansas’ highest score of the night to that point, and brought the Razorbacks to a 49.375 on beam.

Floor

Gamiao saved one of her best-ever floor routines at home for last, as she matched her career high of 9.900 on the event in the lead-off spot. After a 9.750 from Klein, Jones got the Gymbacks back on track with a score of 9.825 up third. Waligora added a 9.850 in the fourth spot, Roberson delivered yet another stunning floor performance next and got a 9.925, setting up Price in the final routine. She matched Roberson’s score and the Gymbacks concluded their floor party with a 49.425.
