Gymbacks Open 2026 Season Against Golden Gophers
The No. 10 Arkansas gymnastics team will begin its 2026 slate on Saturday as the Gymbacks hit the road to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers in Minneapolis.
While it’s the first time out for the Razorbacks this season, the meet will be Minnesota’s second, and first at home. The Gophers kicked off their schedule with a tri-meet at Utah last weekend, where they placed second of three teams with a score of 195.475.
With just 20 teams in action in week one, Minnesota currently sits at No. 8 this week and was ranked No. 15 in the WCGA preseason coaches poll. The Gophers are ranked highest on floor after one meet with an event score of 49.075, No. 4 in the country.
Arkansas has faced off against Minnesota 12 times dating back to 2004, and five of those meetings have been in the last seven seasons. The Gymbacks haven’t made a trip to Minneapolis since 2013, and in their three regular season visits all-time, the have a 2-1 record against the Golden Gophers.
The Gymbacks were ranked No. 10 in the December WCGA preseason poll. The ranking is the second-highest preseason outlook under head coach Jordyn Wieber, second in the top 10, and sixth in the top 15.
Arkansas returns several standouts this season, including sophomore All-American, All-SEC honoree and world bronze medalist Joscelyn Roberson. The Gymbacks also see redshirt junior Lauren Williams and fifth-year trio Frankie Price, Leah Smith and Cami Weaver back in action for 2026, all previous All-SEC gymnasts and All-Americans.
Along with Arkansas’ key returners, the team also adds eight outstanding newcomers to the team. Two transfers – sophomore Madison Gustitus and senior Morgan Price – and six freshmen – Addison Bare, Bradley Burton, Avalon Campbell, Avery King and Riley Jandorf.
Price, the younger sister of Frankie, was a founding member of Fisk University’s gymnastics team, the first-ever at an HBCU. Throughout her three seasons at Fisk, Price was a six-time WCGNIC national champion, which includes back-to-back all-around crowns in 2024 and 2025 and a full sweep of the event titles in 2025. Price is also a three-time First Team All-American and holds a 9.900+ career high on all events.
The Gymbacks’ freshmen arrived to campus as the No. 2 ranked recruiting class per College Gym News and bring depth to all events. Allison Cucci, a five-star recruit, was named one of College Gym News’ most anticipated freshmen on all events and in the all-around. Campbell and King were also five-star recruits, and Bare and Burton four-stars.
Saturday’s meet is set for 4 p.m. CT at Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis and will be streamed on Big Ten Plus. Live scores will be available via Virtius.
