Gymbacks Open Regional Action on Thursday at BWA

The Arkansas gymnastics team will begin its 2024 NCAA postseason run on Thursday as the Gymbacks are set to take on four familiar faces in their regional semifinal.

Arkansas, seeded 10th in the NCAA field, is in a unique position as the Razorbacks have already competed against each of their three other regional opponents: No. 7 Kentucky, Arizona, and Nebraska, at least once this season.

The Gymbacks are 1-1 against SEC foes Kentucky, as Arkansas defeated the Wildcats in the regular season but fell to them at the SEC Championships on March 23.

Arkansas and Arizona both competed in a quad meet at Texas Woman’s on Feb. 19, in which the Hogs defeated the Wildcats, 197.375-196.950, and the two placed second and third overall, respectively.

The Gymbacks faced the Huskers in their regular season finale, which turned out to be a record-breaking evening for Arkansas. For the third time this season, the Razorbacks set a new program score record, this time a 198.100.

Thursday’s semifinal action is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Bud Walton Arena, and Arkansas will start the day on floor. The top two teams from the afternoon session and the top two from the evening session of No. 2 LSU, No. 15 Minnesota, Oregon State and BYU will advance to Saturday’s regional final at 5 p.m.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, and tickets are still available via Razorback Ticket Center. Those following at home can stream the meet live on ESPN+, and live stats will be provided by Virtius.
