Gymbacks Set for Final SEC Dual with Bulldogs

The Arkansas gymnastics team will hit the road for its last SEC meet of the season and will get a look at its first postseason venue as the No. 17 Razorbacks take on the No. 18 Georgia Bulldogs from Duluth, Ga. on Sunday.

The meet, which was previously scheduled for March 3, has been moved to Sunday, March 5 at 1 p.m. CT due to unexpected maintenance at Georgia’s Stegeman Coliseum. The action will now take place at Gas South Arena in Duluth, Ga., which is also the site of the 2023 SEC Gymnastics Championships, set for March 18.

Both teams are looking to end their SEC slates with wins, as each are currently 1-5 in conference. Georgia is coming off a loss to Auburn (196.057-197.550), while Arkansas fell to Missouri at home last week (196.650-197.850).

The meet will not be streamed, but live stats will be provided.

Last Time Out

Arkansas took the floor for its final meet at Barnhill Arena on Feb. 24 and set a program high for the second week in a row. The No. 17 Hogs were defeated by the No. 14 Missouri Tigers 196.650-197.850 but hit a new record of 49.525 on beam in the third rotation. This comes a week after the Gymbacks set a new program vault high, also of 49.525, last Friday. The beam team performance was highlighted by a 9.975 for graduate transfer Norah Flatley, which is a new career high and was good for first place on the night. Sophomore Kalyxta Gamiao also earned a career high, a 9.925, for a share of second place.

Scouting the Series: Georgia

  • Sunday’s competition will be the 47th meeting between the Hogs and the Bulldogs all-time. Georgia holds the series advantage at 37-8-1
  • The two teams have competed outside of Fayetteville or Athens in the regular season just twice before, and only dating back to 2019. The series is even at 1-1 in those outings
  • The Gymbacks outrank the Bulldogs on all events except bars, in which only half a tenth separates the two teams. Arkansas is ahead of Georgia by just a tenth on beam, which the Hogs checking in at a 49.170 NQ S and the Bulldogs at 49.160
