Gymbacks To Compete In Birmingham's Elevate The Stage

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – With just two weeks left in the regular season, the Arkansas gymnastics team is set to compete at Elevate the Stage in Birmingham, Alabama. The Razorbacks will face top-ten foes Georgia and Minnesota, as well as the Spartans of Michigan State.

MEETING AGAIN
Arkansas will get another shot at Georgia on Friday, after falling to the Gymdogs in the conference matchup in Athens. The meeting against Minnesota will be just the eighth matchup in the series, and first since 2013. The Razorbacks own a 6-1 record against the Golden Gophers. Arkansas is 1-1 all-time against Michigan State, falling to the Spartans in East Lansing in 2017.

NO MORE DUALS
Arkansas’ final two regular season meets will be quad meets, marking the end of dual meets for the 2019 campaign. The Razorbacks will travel to Elevate the Stage this Friday, before hosting the Arkansas Quad next Saturday inside Barnhill Arena on senior night. The Southeastern Conference Championships are set for March 23 in New Orleans.

FLOOR STRENGTH
The Gymbacks are proving week in and week out that they are one of the strongest floor groups in the country. Coming in with a national event ranking of No. 11, and and have hit a season high on the floor three out of the last four weeks. Led by anchor Sophia Carter, Arkansas has gone higher than 49.250 five of the last six weeks, including a 2019 high of 49.375 against Florida. Carter is Arkansas’ highest-ranked individual, coming in at No. 9 on the floor with an average of 9.911 and an RQS of 9.925.

McGLONE’S STRONG 2019
Senior Sydney McGlone is having a strong 2019 campaign after missing much of 2018 with an elbow injury. The Dublin, Ohio native has posted 14-consecutive routines on floor and vault that have scored higher 9.800, including a career high 9.925 on the floor last week against Georgia. On floor, she hasn’t scored lower than 9.875 in six weeks, with three 9.900’s or higher.

HAMBRICK DOING IT ALL
Freshman Kennedy Hambrick has been competing in the all-around for the Razorbacks since week three at Kentucky. She is one of five league freshmen to score a 9.900 on the uneven bars and owns the Razorback’s highest all around score of 39.375 against Alabama and joins fellow freshman standout Amanda Elswick to compete a 10.0 start valued Yurchenko 1.5 vault.
