Higginbottom's Historic Season Ends in SEC Tournament
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Arkansas guard Izzy Higginbottom saved one of her best performances for last and scored 38 points in the 1 with 8 boards in the 13th-seeded Razorbacks’ loss to 12-seed Georgia, 79-74, in the opening round of the SEC Tournament.
Higginbottom cemented herself into the Arkansas and SEC record books after becoming the program’s leading scorer and the league’s leading free throw shooter in a single season.
After trailing by 10 points early in the second quarter, the Hogs led by 11 points over halfway through the third. Higginbottom outscored the Bulldogs 18-13 in the second quarter alone and put up a season-high 24 points in the first half.
The SEC’s leading scorer was held to just five points in the third quarter and Arkansas ran out of gas down the stretch, with Georgia outscoring the Hogs 25-14 in the final 10 minutes.
The Bulldogs ended the game with four players in double figures, led by Asia Avinger with 19 points. They will face Oklahoma on Thursday in the second round.
The Razorbacks’ 2024-25 record finished at 10-22 and 3-13 in SEC play.
