Hogs Drop First SEC Dual Meet to South Carolina

The Arkansas swim and dive team fell to #17 South Carolina in its first SEC dual meet of the season by a score of 182-118.

Junior Harriet Rogers had a fantastic outing, as she placed first in three events including 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 100 butterfly. Freshman Viola Petrini won the 200 freestyle, and the Razorbacks (Harriet Rogers, Delaney Harrison, Tammy Greenwood, Viola Petrini) placed first in the 400 freestyle relay.

“It was a great day for our team today, we went toe-to-toe with a team ranked in the top 20 and beat another ranked team on Wednesday,” head coach Neil Harper said. “We practiced hard this week, lifted all three days and raced with confidence today. We had over 10 lifetime personal bests, and that is a great indicator of what’s to come. I am so proud of this team.”

On the diving end, sophomore Majo Sanchez placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Sophomore Kanah Pumphrey placed third in the 3-meter and senior Malea Martinez grabbed third in the 1-meter.

The Hogs move to 2-1 on the season, and will be back in action on Oct. 24-25, as they prepare for back-to-back meets against Miami and Rutgers.
