Hogs Head to Georgia for Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic
ATHENS, Ga. – No. 9 Arkansas Women’s Golf is set to tee it up for the second straight weekend, as Head Coach Shauna Taylor’s Hogs head to Athens, Ga. for the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic (March 25-27). It’ll be another great field, as fellow SEC teams Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Texas A&M will take part, as will Texas, Southern California and Louisville.
Leading the Hogs down to Georgia will be Kajal Mistry, who is coming off the best event of her career. Mistry won the individual medal at the highly competitive MountainView Collegiate, the first individual win of her collegiate career. The Johannesburg, South Africa native carded a 206 (-10) at the event, her best 54-hole score by five strokes. She needed every one of them, too, as she only bested Natasha Oon of San Jose State by one shot. Mistry played well in the 2021 edition of the Liz, finishing tied for 16th place.
Ela Anacona will hold down the second slot in the lineup once again. She was also very good at the MountainView, notching her second straight top-25 finish. The Buenos Aires native carded her third-ever event under par in Tucson, finishing the tournament at 215 (-1). Anacona matched Mistry at last year’s Liz, also carding a seven-over, good for a share of 16th place.
The ever-consistent Julia Gregg will once again play from the third slot in Taylor’s traveling lineup. Gregg did her thing in Tucson, carding a one-over 217, good for a share of 30th place. Gregg played one of her better events at last year’s Liz, earning a share of 14th place after carding a 222 (+6).
The young duo of Miriam Ayora and Gio Fernandez hold down the fourth and fifth slots, respectively. Ayora carded a 230 at the MountainView, good for 61st. Fernandez, meanwhile, will play competitively for the first time since the Moon Golf Invitational, where she finished tied for 74th.
