José Marin Finishes 14th at ANWA
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Arkansas women’s golf signee Maria José Marin enjoyed a successful week at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, logging a tie for 14th place with a 3-over 219 (71-72-76). José Marin became the first South American to make the cut for the final round, which was played at the beautiful Augusta National on Saturday.
“It’s just an emotional experience, the whole tournament, and I really, really enjoyed it,” said José Marin. “Getting the opportunity to make the cut and play the last round, the final round at Augusta. It was just amazing. Even though I didn’t play as I was expected to play, it was just amazing.”
In round three at Augusta National, José Marin logged a 76 behind one birdie on hole No. 16 and 12 pars. She had five bogeys, but her 4-over par finish elevated her to a top 15 showing.
José Marin earned the opportunity to play in the final round at Augusta National after making the 30-person cut out of a field of 72 in the first two rounds. In the first round, José Marin fired a 1-under 71, doing so through a bogey-less round with one birdie and 17 pars.

They have really good facilities,” said José Marin. “The Blessings, it’s a really beautiful golf course and really tough too. The coach and assistant coach, Shauna [Taylor] and Mike [Adams], they’re just amazing and they were so nice to me. I just felt that I would be the right fit on the tesam.”
Arkansas will play at the SEC Championship in Birmingham, Alabama from Wednesday, April 12 to Sunday, April 16.
