José Marin Makes Cut At ANWA

EVANS, Ga. – Maria José Marin of the Arkansas women’s golf team shot a 147 (69-78) to sit tied for 23rd after 36 holes. José Marin made her second cut at the ANWA after becoming the first Latin American golfer to do so last season.

After making the cut, Marin will now play at Augusta National on Saturday for the final round. She currently sits eight shots off the lead. The final round of the ANWA will be on NBC, with coverage of the event starting at 11 a.m. CT.

In the first round, José Marin shot a 3-under 69 behind five birdies and just two bogeys with 11 pars. She putted well on the day, including an 87-foot putt from off the green for birdie, a par saves on the seventh hole and a birdie chip on her final hole at nine to stand in a tie for seventh after 18 holes.

On a day where the weather conditions were a factor, the entire field struggled, and scores suffered. Marin finished her round 6-over 78, accumulating one birdie in the round while having 10 pars.

Last season, José Marin finished the ANWA with a 3-over 219 (71-72-76) to finish in 14th.

Following ANWA, José Marin will join back with the team to play at the SEC Championship at Pelican Golf Club in Bellaire, Florida, starting on Friday, April 12.
