Jose Marin Named to ANNIKA Award Watch List

FAYETTEVILLE – Razorback sophomore Maria Jose Marin has been named to the Fall ANNIKA Award Watch List presented by Stifel, the Haskins Foundation announced in conjunction with Golfweek and Golf Channel.

Jose Marin, a first team All-America last season, was on the ANNIKA Award Watch List last spring as well. After a runner-up finish at the season-opening Carmel Cup and her semifinal appearance at the 2024 U.S. Women’s Amateur, the Cali, Colombia native moved up two spots to 10th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.

Jose Marin will look to be the second Hog to win the award, as Maria Fassi was the ANNIKA Award winner in back-to-back years in 2018 and 2019. In addition to being on the 203-24 Spring ANNIKA Award Watch list, she earned her way onto the 2023-24 Final Fall Watch List. Jose Marin is the fifth Hog since 2017-18 to make an ANNIKA Award Watch List multiple times, as past watch list names include Fassi (15 times), Dylan Kim (seven times), Brooke Matthews (twice) and Alana Uriell (seven times).

About Fred Haskins and the Haskins Foundation
From the seaside town of Liverpool to a quaint Donald Ross course in Georgia, Fred Haskins built a reputation for mentoring young golfers. Haskins was head professional at the Country Club of Columbus for 34 years, recommended for the position by the legendary Bobby Jones. His proteges learned the game in Saturday morning classes that cost a nickel. They went on to win more than 150 collegiate and amateur tournaments. Since its formation in 1971, the Haskins Foundation has been devoted to amateur golf and the presentation of the Haskins Award. This coveted trophy honors the year’s outstanding college golfer and the memory of Fred Haskins, a club professional that spent his life nurturing and mentoring amateur golfers. The foundation, based in Columbus, Ga., oversees the voting for the Haskins and ANNIKA Awards conducted among college golfers, coaches, past winners, and college golf media.
