LaBarbera Earns SEC Honor

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas freshman Jordy LaBarbera earned Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honors the league office announced Wednesday.

The first-year player from Allen, Texas, posted her collegiate best finish tying for eighth place at the Puerto Rico Classic last weekend.  LaBarbera shot 218 bettering her previous collegiate best score by nine strokes.

LaBarbera, playing in just her third career event for the Razorbacks, helped Arkansas win the tournament, the second team title of the year.

LaBarbera took part in two events in the fall playing in the Schooner Fall Classic and the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational.  In three rounds at the Schooner, she posted a 227 with rounds of 76-75-76, helping the Razorbacks to a runner-up finish.

She matched her 227 at the Ruth’s Chris shooting 77-71-79.  The round of 71 stood as her single round best score until she shot 75-73-70 in Puerto Rico.

Arkansas returns to the course March 6-8, at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
