Lopez, Tubert Advance at LPGA Q School

VENICE, Fla. – University of Arkansas senior Gabriela Lopez and former Razorback Emily Tubert both advanced through the four-round second stage of the LPGA Qualifying School Sunday at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Florida.

Lopez made steady improvements all weekend moving up from a first-day round of 77 and 113th place to a tie for ninth overall shooting a one-under 71 in the final round. Lopez finished with rounds of 77-71-73-71=292, just eight back of the medalist.

Her final round saw Lopez open with three birdies on the front nine to turn three-under with a 33. She recorded seven consecutive par holes before struggling with back-to-back bogeys on the 17th and 18th holes.

Former All-American Emily Tubert was also well inside the cut line to move on. The Burbank, California, native finished tied for 62nd shooting 75-77-76-73=301 to advance to the final stage.

Twenty players will earn their LPGA Tour cards in Stage III of qualifying at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida, Nov. 30-Dec. 6.
