Men's Tennis Set to Host Second Tournament of Fall Season

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team continues its fall season this week with seven Razorbacks competing in the PTT 25K Fayetteville. The tournament will take place at Billingsley Tennis Center from Oct. 27-Nov. 2.

The 20 person main draw will consist of 4 groups of 5 players each. The round-robin group stages will run from Sunday to Thursday. The Playoff Rounds will be single elimination and consist of five draws of 4 players depending on the player’s group finishing (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th) and will run from Friday to Saturday.

Group A features two Hogs as Božo Barun makes his fourth appearance of the fall while Arthur Bellegy is set to play in his second fall event. Barun is coming off a 2-2 performance in singles play alongside a 2-1 doubles record at the ITA Regional Championships. Bellegy finished with a 1-2 singles record at the USTA 15K Fayetteville Futures in his last tournament. Barun and Bellegy are slated to take the courts following the 2 p.m. matches in Round 1 of the group stage.

Lukas Palovic represents Arkansas in Group B as he makes his second appearance this fall. In his previous event, Palovic reached the 2nd round of the singles main draw at the USTA 15K Fayetteville Futures and will face Santiago Giamichelle tomorrow following the 11 a.m. matches in the first round of the group stage.

Brendan Boland and Jakub Vrba will compete in Group C as both Razorbacks look to maintain their momentum after finishing a combined 6-2 in singles play at the ITA Regional Championships. Boland and Vrba will each open the tournament tomorrow at 11 a.m. in Round 1 of the group stage.

Benni Emesz and Connor Smillie will participate in Group D with both Hogs playing in their fourth event of the fall season. Emesz ended the ITA Regional Championships with a 3-1 singles record while Smillie advanced to the Round of 16 in the doubles draw alongside Barun. Emesz and Smillie are each scheduled to play tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the first round of the group stage.

Former Razorbacks Melvin Manuel and Stefanos Savva are also set to take part in the tournament as Manuel will play in Group B while Savva competes in Group C.
