Morgan Price Records First-Ever Perfect 10 in Program History, Gymbacks Tie Wildcats

After 8,442 days and 24 competition seasons later, Arkansas gymnastics finally saw perfection rewarded in its scores as senior Morgan Price earned the first 10 in program history, on vault, in the No. 7 Gymbacks’ 197.125-197.125 tie against No. 24 Kentucky on Friday.

Price’s 10 on Friday was the second of her career, as she also attained perfection last season on bars at Fisk University. Continuing her streak as a trailblazer, she has now scored the first perfect 10 in HBCU history and the first ever for the Gymbacks.

Morgan’s 10 earned her the vault title, and she won all-around with a score of 39.575. Those were two of five titles on the night for Arkansas: Joscelyn Roberson took the beam crown with her sixth 9.950 on the event in eight meets. Roberson and Lauren Williams also tied for the title on floor with matching 9.950 marks.

Despite the meet ending in a draw, Arkansas outscored Kentucky on vault and floor and tied the Wildcats on beam. The Gymbacks’ 49.600 was a season high and ties for the fourth-highest floor mark in program history.

Vault

Cami Weaver got vault out to a hot start with a solid Yurchenko full that scored 9.900. Allison Cucci and Hailey Klein went next with Yurchenko 1.5s and got matching 9.850 scores. After a 9.700 from Roberson, Williams stepped up in the fifth position and earned a 9.800. Then, it was Morgan Price’s time to shine and shine. She delivered a huge Yurchenko 1.5 that proved to be flawless for the 10, bringing Arkansas’ vault score to 49.400.

Bars

Roberson began bars in a big way with a 9.900, complete with stuck dismount, her third 9.900 on the event this season. Klein was up next and went 9.875. After a couple of falls in the third and fourth spots, Cucci got Arkansas back on track with a 9.900. Morgan Price anchored again and did her job well, earning a 9.900. The Gymbacks’ total on bars came to 48.800.

Beam

Madison Gustitus continued her consistency on beam as the lead-off and earned a 9.800 with a stuck dismount. Priscilla Park went second and earned a season high 9.900, and Klein notched a 9.850 midway through the beam lineup. After a 9.750 from Cucci, Morgan Price dialed up a 9.825, which brought Roberson up to anchor. She did what she always does and hit another great routine for a 9.950. Arkansas concluded the event with a 49.325.

Floor

Klein kicked off the floor party with a 9.875, and after a fall on bars, Leah Smith redeemed herself well on floor with a 9.900 in the second spot. Morgan Price kept up the pace with a 9.850 next. Her sister Frankie delivered one of her best floor performances yet this season in the fourth position, a 9.925. Williams and Roberson brought the house down after that with matching 9.950s. It wasn’t enough to overtake the Wildcats on the night, but Arkansas’ 49.600 on floor is a season best.
