
No. 3 Women’s Golf Ready for Puerto Rico, Spring Season
RIO GRANDE, PUERTO RICO – The Arkansas women’s golf team, ranked No. 3 in the Spikemark rankings following the fall season, is set to play at the Puerto Rico Classic hosted by Purdue from Sunday, Feb. 4 through Tuesday, Feb. 6. Arkansas is one of 15 teams in the field that will play at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
All three rounds will be a shotgun start, beginning with Sunday and Monday, which will begin at 6:30 a.m. CT. Tuesday’s round will commence at 5:30 a.m. CT.
Arkansas is coming off a stellar fall season, in which the Hogs won the Blessings Collegiate Invitational with a 11-under 565 (285-280) and finishing as a runner-up at the Carmel Cup at Pebble Beach Golf Links with a 14-under 1066 (353-354-359) in the six-count-five format. The Hogs were ranked the No. 1 team in the country, according to Golfweek, midway into the fall season.
The Hogs are led by Maria José Marin, who is No. 1 in the lineup for her fourth tournament. José Marin is No. 1 in the NCAA individual rankings and No. 13 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. The freshman won the Blessings Collegiate Invitational by three strokes after tallying a 10-under 134 (67-67) behind 16 birdies in 36 holes. In her first career collegiate appearance, José Marin was the runner-up at the Carmel Cup behind a 14-under 205 (67-70-68). José Marin leads the Hogs in scoring average (69.25), as well as paces the way with seven rounds at par or better, four rounds in the 60s and 38 birdies.
Kendall Todd is No. 2 in the lineup, coming off playing in three fall tournaments. She most recently played as an individual at the Diamante Intercollegiate, where she tied for 14th with a 3-under 213 (72-70-71). At the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, Todd tied for 10th with a 1-over 145 (74-71). Todd has logged a 72.38 scoring average and has five rounds at par or better this season.
Reagan Zibilski highlights the No. 3 spot in Puerto Rico. Zibilski played in all three fall tournaments, coming off a career best showing at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, in which she logged a 1-under 215 (71-73-71) to tie for 12th. Zibilski logs a 72.50 scoring average and has five rounds at par or under. She leads the team with 92 pars.
At the No. 4 spot, Kajal Mistry is playing in her fourth tournament of the season. Mistry’s best showing in the fall season was at the Carmel Cup, in which she finished with an even 216 (71-69-76) to tie for 16th. She is logging a 73.13 scoring average with two rounds at par or under. In her graduate season, Mistry has played in 115 rounds to log a 73.74 scoring average.
Wrapping up the lineup, Miriam Ayora will play in her fourth tournament of the 2023-24 season, as she appeared in all eight rounds the Hogs played in the fall. Ayora matched a career-low round of 67 in the second round of the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, as well as earned a career-high third place showing at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational after shooting a 4-under 140 (70-70). This season, Ayora is second in scoring average with a 71.88 with six rounds at par or under.
Ela Anacona will play as an individual. She is coming off winning the Women’s Latin America Championship (67-70-67-69=273), in which she has received an invite to play in a handful of LPGA events. Anacona played in two events during the fall season, most notably in her fourth place showing at the Blessings Collegiate with a 3-under 141 (68-73). That finish was a career best for Anacona.
