HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The eighth-ranked Arkansas women’s golf team earned a third-place (+10) finish in this week’s Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the Long Cove Club (Par 72) on Hilton Head Island.

After a 14-over start on cold and windy Monday, the Razorbacks climbed six spots from ninth to third and owned the lowest round of the field on Tuesday with a 4-under 280, an 18-stroke difference. Arkansas shot even on Wednesday, remaining in third place.

Junior Maria José Marin notched her seventh straight top 10 finish of the season with a 2-under 211 for the week. José Marin saved her best for last with a 4-under 67 and locked up a T5 finish with Georgia’s Karoline Tuttle. The Cali, Colombia, native birdied three of four par 3s in the final round.

Senior Reagan Zibilski (+1, T9) turned in a season-high 79 in the opening 18 holes but turned her week around and shot 7-under in the last two rounds with zero bogeys to finish tied for ninth at 2-over par.

Junior Abbey Schutte (+4, T21) played steady in the third spot with a 73-71-73

Freshmen Sara Brentcheneff (+8, T43) and Swetha Sathish (+15, T71) finished outside the top 40. After a 78 on Monday, Brentcheneff shot a 69 on Tuesday but followed it up with a 75 in the final round.

No. 9 Texas swept the team and individual titles. The Longhorns finished the week 2-over after a 5-under start and Farah O’Keefe led the field after each round to finish at 7-under.

The average score on the par 71 track was 74.18. Only one team has finished under par in the 14-year history of the event: Florida State in 2019 (-2).
